Knowledge:

The student can

• account for the main theories and ways of conceptualising organisations, organising, organisational learning, strategy, innovation, and leadership.
• discuss, theorise and problematise current and anticipated trends related to organisations, organising, organisational learning, strategy, innovation, and leadership.

Skills:

The student can

• identify and discuss competing approaches to a chosen problem in the research field.
• analyse cases using different theoretical and conceptual frameworks.
• choose a theoretical and conceptual framework and argue for its relevance in relation to a given problem.

Generic competence:

The student can

• reason, argue and discuss in an academic genre.
• review articles in the research field.

The course is a compulsory part of the specialization "Kunnskapsutvikling og læring i arbeidslivet" in the Master's programme "Pedagogikk" and is reserved for students admitted to this programme.

Qualified exchange students may be admitted if there is capacity.

Different pedagogical methods are used in this course, such as

• Lectures/seminars.
• Digital teaching.
• Case method teaching.
• Class and group discussions.

Compulsory components

• Participation in the first lecture.
• Participation in the boot camp.
• Participation in sessions with guest lectures.
• Twin group presentations of two articles for the class.
• Being present during group presentations.

Specifications about the compulsory components are published at the beginning of the semester.

The exam consist of two parts:

1. Written individual course paper.
2. Oral presentation of course paper, followed by oral examination.

Time frame for oral presentation and examination is ca.30 minutes.

Specifications about the exams are published at the beginning of the semester.

All compulsory components must be approved before you may submit the individual course paper and have oral exam. The oral exam adjusts the grade of the individual course paper.

• Illness at exams / postponed exams
• Resitting an examination

Compulsory components that have been approved are valid for two years. If you fail the exam, you may retake it the next time the course is offered without retaking the compulsory components.

If your compulsory components are not approved, you must retake the whole course in order to take the exam.

Grades are awarded on a scale from A to F, where A is the best grade and F is a fail. Read more about the grading system.

You will recieve a prliminary grade for the written paper (part 1)The oral exam adjusts the grade of the individual course paper.

The exams are graded by two examiners.
