Research Design

The aim of this subject is to enable students to specialize within a theory theme. Students are expected to conduct a literature review and/or a small field research project, and present a viable research proposal by the end of the semester. Accordingly, the learning outcomes for this course are:

|| chr(38) ||bull; Students will be able to undertake an independent literature review within a research domain.
|| chr(38) ||bull; Students will develop their proficiency in conducting field research and/or writing a research proposal.
|| chr(38) ||bull; Students shall demonstrate an ethically sound practice with regard to citations and references in their written reports.

This course is available only for students admitted to the master || chr(38) ||#39;s degree programme in Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

The examination in this course is not available for external candidates. Only students admitted to the course may sit for the examination.

The course is based on intensive half day seminars during late August and the whole September, with group work in between. The seminars are mandatory.

Access to teaching

A student who has completed compulsory instruction and coursework and has had these approved, is not entitled to repeat that instruction and coursework. A student who has been admitted to a course, but who has not completed compulsory instruction and coursework or had these approved, is entitled to repeat that instruction and coursework, depending on available capacity.

The course grade is calculated based on the following components:

• A final group assignment including an oral group presentation accounting for in total 50 % of the score. Students in each group are given the same score. Group members who do not fulfill their obligations can be scored individually from the group.
• Individual assignments/quizzes given during the semester accounting for in total 50 % of the overall score.

Failing a graded assignment does still allow participation in the remaining exams. All exams and assignments must be taken during the same semester.

Completion of mandatory attendance is required in order to pass the course.

You can usually resit an exam, but the conditions depend on whether you had a valid reason for absence from the regular exam. Read more about resitting an exam.

Grades are awarded on a scale from A to F, where A is the best grade and F is a fail. Read more about the grading system.

An external auditor regularly evaluates the academic quality of the course, including the form of exam used on the course.

Evaluation

Feedback from our students is essential to us in our efforts to ensure and further improve the high quality of our programmes and courses. As a student at the University of Oslo you will therefore be asked to participate in various types of evaluation of our courses, facilities and services. All courses are subject to continuous evaluation. At regular intervals we also ask students on a particular course to participate in a more comprehensive, in-depth evaluation of this course, a so called || chr(38) ||quot;periodic evaluation || chr(38) ||quot;.

If you have a disability or a health problem that entails significant inconvenience in an examination situation, you may be considered for special examination arrangements. Mothers who are breastfeeding may apply for extra time to complete the exam.

A student may sit this exam up to 3 times. If a student wishes to withdraw from the exam, s/he must do so in StudentWeb at least two weeks prior to the first day of the exam. Failure to do so will be counted as one of the three opportunities to sit the exam.

Students who due to illness or other valid reason of absence were unable to sit for their final exams may apply for participation in make-up exams. Make-up exams are arranged either later in the same semester or early in the semester following the exam in question. Documentation of valid reasons for absence from the regular exam must be submitted upon application to participate in make-up exams. Students who have failed an exam and students who wish to re-take an exam to achieve a better grade may not participate in make-up exams, but must re-take the exam when it is regularly scheduled.
