This course seeks to transmit in-depth knowledge about the development of a wide range of cognitive and emotional phenomena: Language, executive functions, gender differences, emotion regulation, emotion understanding, emotional competence, and attachment. These phenomena will be looked at from mainly a psychological perspective but also from a neuropsychological perspective.
The course also seeks to transmit skills about various methods to research and how to assess cognitive and emotional development. At the end of the course, students will have constituted a portfolio of methods to assess the development of various cognitive and emotional phenomena that they might use in the future as researcher or practitioner.

This course is mandatory for students from the study option Helse, utvikling og samfunn who choose the developmental psychology option (fordypning).The course is an elective for students who will choose one of the other three options in the HUS-master.
ERASMUS students can apply for the course.
Teaching is given through lectures and seminars.
Students are expected to be active in both (e.g. group presentations, self-assessments & assessments of fellow students).
80% attendance to all sessions (lectures and seminars) is compulsory.
Compulsory tuition activities are valid for the 2 next semesters after approval date.
Students will be dived into smaller working groups for the seminar assignments.
Two written group assignments and one oral group presentation:
All three modules and exam components must be passed during the same semester in order to pass the course.
If you are sick or have another valid reason for not attending the regular exam, we offer a postponed exam later in the same semester.
