SY-325 Inclusion and diversity in an interdisciplinary perspective

The student:

Knowledge

• Has knowledge about diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) and people in vulnerable situations.
• Has knowledge on how to facilitate equitable healthcare services for all groups in society, including people with indigenous and minority backgrounds, considering various cultures, norms, values, languages, and social practices.
• Has knowledge about various professional perspectives and inclusive practices.
• Has knowledge of interdisciplinary collaboration when interacting with individuals in vulnerable situations.

• Has knowledge about various inclusive practices from an international and interprofessional perspective.
• Has knowledge about the political, social, and economic factors contributing to the development and maintenance of disparities in health care services.

Skills

• Applies knowledge of diversity, inclusive measures in assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of interprofessional healthcare.
• Can collaborate interdisciplinary to ensure comprehensive care measures that promote. inclusion and reduce marginalization among patients and users in diverse clinical settings.

• Can use different tools and platforms to collaborate.

General competence

• Can reflect on personal values, attitudes and own practice.
• Can identify and reflect on ethical issues and work ethically responsibly when interacting with patients or users in vulnerable situations.
• Is able to communicate key subject matters from relevant theories, problems and solutions both in writing and orally.
• Is able to communicate different views and share experiences interdisciplinary, and thereby contribute to the development of good practice.
• Is able to identify and address situations in which patients are in vulnerable situations, demonstrating the ability to provide care with respect and dignity.

The teaching methods are seminars, group work, online teaching and learning, and self-study.

The student workload in the course is estimated to 135 hours.

Assessment: Pass/fail.

One grade is given for each group.
